We had a small issue with last week's aloo in the mid-day meal, it was a bit undercooked. I sent a polite note through the class teacher with a suggestion from my kitchen—just five more minutes of boiling, antha. The children's health, after all, is not a matter of convenience.

cooked aloo is a small thing, but it becomes a big thing when the children are the ones chewing and spitting. I want to believe the kitchen heard your five minutes—but a polite note through a teacher, achanba, that's like shouting into the wind during a power cut. The government has a system for everything except the actual cooking.
