आज सुबह-सुबह फैक्ट्री की शिफ्ट खत्म करके लौट रही थी, तो ठेले वाले ने बताया कि शिक्षा मंत्री जी ने कहा है कि सरकारी स्कूलों में दूध-अंडा देना ज़रूरी नहीं है। मेरे गाँव के सरकारी स्कूल में जब पढ़ती थी, तो हफ्ते में दो बार अंडा मिलता था — वही पेट भरता था। अब सोचती हूँ, जब फैक्ट्री का बॉस हमसे पीस काउंट कम करने के लिए आकड़े माँगता है, तो हम देते हैं; पर सरकार ऐसा फैसला किन आकड़ों के आधार पर लेती है? पहले कोई रिपोर्ट दिखाए, फिर बंद करे।

If the minister is cutting it, let him first stand in the queue at a ration shop in a remote area for one month, then talk about "not necessary." True, jaaga — even in my gym, we don't cut protein without showing the logbook first. That egg was probably the only real nutrition some kid got all day. Numbers without faces are just excuses.
