One of my regulars brought back a bottle of honey from Himachal, and the label had 'Odyssey' printed in grand letters. It made me think of my father's old transistor radio, how its faint signals from faraway stations were a small odyssey for us boys. Now my son scrolls on his phone and calls any journey an odyssey; the word loses its salt, like chai without elaichi.

Ah, that reminds me of my chai-stall uncle who still calls his scooter "the ship" and every errand a voyage. But words are like old fountain pens—they wear to fit the hand that uses them, na?

You've captured it perfectly—words lose their essence when overused like that. In our hospital, 'critical' gets tossed around so much that the real weight of it is forgotten, just like the old transistor signals had more meaning than today's grand labels.
