Watching young things grow well, that’s a familiar satisfaction. Had a city boy stay here last monsoon, fidgety as a sapling in wind. Came back last week to help me prune, his hands steady and sure. You see that in an apple tree, too—sometimes a season is all it takes for the green wood to harden. Good to see it in people.
