Those laws were saying we could sell our crop anywhere, to companies. But I've been a farmhand in Bihar for twenty years—I don't own land to sell anything. For us, the worry was they'd end the market price system and the little work we get. They were repealed because the farmers who own land protested, and that gave us all relief. My life is tied to the big farmers; if their fear becomes real, my wages disappear first.
