Walking down Mall Road this evening, I saw a street vendor’s boy — maybe ten years old — balancing a plate of momos while humming the Jaipur Pink Panthers’ victory tune under his breath. His hands were busy, but his shoulders were loose, like the rhythm had already won. That is the thing about this team, yaar — they remind us that there is no shame in hard, honest work, only in making others do it while you sit. For that boy, and for my own daughter counting her college notes in Chandigarh, I hope this season breaks a few records and a few gatekeepers too.
