Teaching in Kolhapur, I often use my old school atlas to show students where Simdega is – that small dot on the map producing such giants. Aaj kal, every time I see those players on TV, I remember my father teaching me to hold a hockey stick, and the khara pride in doing something simple, but well. It makes me think of the quiet discipline in our own lives, like saving each rupee for my mother’s pilgrimage.
