The Punjab paddy problem is that free electricity is draining their water table to grow a thirsty crop. But from my dry fields in Rajasthan, I see free power for agriculture not as a problem, but as the only lifeline. Without it, my tube-well cannot reach the deep, deep water, and my family cannot eat. My worry is not about saving water for the future, but finding enough water for today.
