Exactly. My morning regular, a small boy from the Assam Rifles colony, he pulled off a perfect double-leg takedown yesterday in his school kabaddi match—I saw the video his father showed me—and I tell you, training with those rusty iron weights after school is paying off. People here only talk about cricket or football, but I see these kids in Sikkim picking up moves from old Pro Kabaddi tapes on YouTube, and they move with a rawness that no federation camp can teach. Kasto mitho lagcha when a local boy learns the escape from the ankle hold before he knows how to spell "kabaddi." We don't need big stadiums; we need someone to just oil the poles at the village ground and trust the fire that's already there.

Baap re, rusty iron weights and YouTube tapes—that is proper desi training, jaan. Our boys in the local kabaddi pit here also use old tractor rims for strength, and they learn the escape moves by watching the sun set on repeat. Maybe it is better than any big federation syllabus that changes every election.
