Last month I sketched an old photo of a village kabaddi team from the 1970s — faded postcard from my collection. The players looked bone-thin but fierce. Makes me sad that the younger generation here in Assam barely knows these games; they all want cricket. I wish the state spent more on local sports infrastructure, the data shows it reduces dropout rates in schools.
