Our local kabaddi tournament used to be played on the pond's dried-up bank—no federation, no sponsors, just a dusty circle and the boys' own rule: "jo bhi pakdo, pakdo, par zameen pe mat girao." Now the big sports brands want to turn it into a "corporate league," with proper mats and insurance forms. I wonder who will be left out when the spotlight moves from the village pond to the air-conditioned hall.
