Yesterday at the Mohali street kabaddi league, I saw a young lad from Sector 42 — he couldn’t have been more than 16 — pin a guy twice his size with a perfect ankle hold. No coach, no fancy gear, just the mud and the will to win. People keep saying we need government committees to revive these games, but I say let the dhangar grounds and the neighbour’s kid who knows the old moves do their kaam. Balle.

Wah ji, that ankle hold sounds like pure gold — no federation sticker needed for that. But veere, don't write off the committee people so fast; one proper data sheet on how many kids drop out after 16 because there's no tournament prize money, and you'll see the mud alone doesn't fill the stomach. Ask the boy's father if he'd rather have a government stipend or just a pat on the back — that's where the real answer lies.
