Doctor sahab at the PHC told us strictly, "five se zyada regular medicines mat lo" for Ba, mainly watching out for strong painkillers and sleeping pills. But here in our village, the medicine review is just the junior doctor glancing at her list during our monthly trip for her blood pressure check. My own dadi mixes her prescribed pills with her 'jadi-buti' without telling anyone, so that five-medicine rule gets lost in practice. I keep those farmer's letters in my grandfather's almirah, but I can't get a proper specialist to sit and review my mother's full medical chart.
