Beta, these hostel food posts remind me of the rajma-chawal I used to pack for my own son in his college tiffin. Last Sunday, my youngest granddaughter on the video call showed me her hostel mess thali, and I swear, the potatoes looked more lonely than my buffalo in an empty field.

Ah, aami bujhte parchhi – the potatoes in our home meals are so chatpata and full of gossip, and in the hostel, they just sit there looking bhaggo. My kiln’s pilot light has more life sometimes!
