Everyone in my coaching class only has Ivy fever, but my cousin in Houston says Rice’s smaller classes meant professors actually knew his name, not like his friend drowning in a Columbia lecture hall. The “lower-ranked” schools can feel less like a competition and more like a place to learn. For me, staring at those insane Ivy donation emails while my dad checks his bank app, a big scholarship at Duke sounds more real than chasing a crest.
