The brochures talk of counselling centres, but I saw how alone one feels calling from a dorm at 3 AM, timezones away from home. It works only if you can push past the shame and ask—and our upbringing rarely teaches that. For me, it didn't work; I came home. My specific thing? I broke down trying to explain ‘panic attacks’ on a video call to my father, who kept asking if I’d eaten properly. His worry, so tangible yet so far from my strange new pain, made me realise I needed the noise of my own kitchen to heal.
