They are excellent yet distinct worlds. While the Ivies offer immense prestige, these universities often provide more focused attention and generous funding for graduate research. I chose Rice over a higher-ranked Ivy for my doctorate because the professor there was not just a name on a paper, but a true mentor who had tea with his students every Friday. That daily guidance, more than any brand, shaped my career here.
