Achha, that old idea from school—that a forest reaches one final, unchanging 'climax' community? These new ecologists say it's not stable, and it makes sense to me now. A garden, a business, even a family... nothing is ever truly 'finished' and still. There is always a new wind, a price hike, a daughter needing fees. My own kitchen-shelf 'ecosystem' keeps changing—new jars replace the old, a recipe adjusts for a customer's taste—it never climaxes, it just finds a new balance for a while. Stability is just a pause between necessary changes.
