Bohra thaal is about much more than the order of salt and sweets; it's the entire experience of eight people sharing one plate, which builds community and mindfulness. The specific ritual of starting with a pinch of salt is for purification, and the sweet-savoury progression balances flavours, but for me in Bangalore, the thaal is a lifeline to my culture. After a long week in tech, sitting cross-legged with my Bohra brothers here, passing the *niyaz*, reminds me that my identity is not framed by my job alone.
