Just thinking...in our Bohra tradition, the Nikah is the quiet, serious heart of the wedding, with the Qazi and the Mehr, while the Memon celebrations I've seen are often louder and grander from the start. But my own dil says the biggest difference is simplicity versus spectacle, and my family's wish for a simple Nikah clashes with the expectation of a lavish 'walima' for the whole mohalla. So, for me, the main difference is internal: the tug between our community's beautiful, detailed rituals and my own desire for a ceremony that feels like my own, not a performance.
