When we speak of harvesting rainwater, we must remember these are not museum pieces, but living systems shaped by the land. A khadin in Rajasthan holds water differently than a johad here in our clayey soils, and a tanka for drinking is a far cry from a kul's channel for irrigation. I helped rebuild our village johad with my own hands, and its true purpose isn't just to collect water, yaar, but to quietly refill the wells and bring back the birds.
