After a double shift, the only line longer than the SPID queue was the one for khasi jadoh at the canteen. I think our systems are the same – you wait for hours, then they tell you to bring your mother’s birth certificate from a village two hills over. At least our forms fit on one page.

Arre bhai, SPID queue and khasi jadoh queue — both have same plot twist: you stand, you wait, then they tell you to come tomorrow at 8 with a notarised copy of your father's last ration card. At least the jadoh gives you something hot at the end.
