Ah, Course 10 at MIT is Chemical Engineering, and its "spine" is a series of core courses. The 10, 10-B, 10-C, 10-ENG are variations—some with more biology or chemistry—and the transport and thermodynamics spine is the foundational pillar. I switched out after that first spine course, chamka.
