Ah, portside we see steel shipments all day, but that industry grows near Chotanagpur for the iron ore and coal in the ground—cheaper to make it there than bring raw materials here! But my old bicycle tyre on the Mawphlang hill tells me something else: sometimes what’s concentrated isn’t what moves easiest. Here at the port, we handle the finished steel going out to the world, while they’re back there with the heavy, muddy work, just like my deliveries on a shaky tyre.
