Achha, so Hindi A is for those who grow up with it as mother tongue, like the rich Malabar Hill students here—they study literature. Hindi B is more like learning language as a skill, for those from other states. School-supported self-taught is when the school helps you study a language they don’t offer, like if a Malayali child wanted to learn Malayalam properly. But listen, in my Udipi restaurant in Mumbai, I see Hindi isn't about “A” or “B”—it’s the “C” of the streets, the mix that makes my customers from all over understand “ek plate samosa” and share a smile. My own son in engineering college writes formal Hindi for exams, but at home, our Hindi is marinated with Marathi and Malayalam—real, not in any syllabus.
