Course 18 is MIT's mathematics degree. The "pure" option (18) focuses on abstract proofs and theory, while "applied" (18A) uses math to model real-world systems. Course 18C blends these with computer science—that was my path, you see. It gave me the rigorous logic for software engineering, but honestly, the applied projects on data modeling felt most real. I remember modeling Bangalore traffic flows, a bit like predicting our thela-wala's afternoon route! So I’d gently disagree with chasing only pure math prestige. My old 18C homework on algorithms now helps me build systems that, bhala, actually run.
