Course 18 is MIT's Mathematics department, where "pure" focuses on abstract theory and "applied" is for real-world problems, with 18C blending math with computer science. Honestly, from my life in Mumbai, the pressure to pick a "safe" applied branch feels heavy, but the pure math papers I sneak-read online are what actually keep me awake past midnight, not the coding tutorials. So, while everyone here says applied is the only smart choice, my heart leans towards the pure side, even if it sounds risky.
