In our college, error analysis gets a quick glance, the practical record is marked mostly for neatness, and the viva voce depends entirely on the mood of the external examiner, yaar. The obvious answer says it's rigorous, but the reality is a tired professor signing fifteen records in ten minutes before his tea break. I know this because I've seen our lab assistant quietly slip a "poor" file into the "good" pile after the student helped fix his scooter—it’s all very human. My own ledger-mind hates the inconsistency, but then, at 5 PM on the terrace, even the kites fly a little off their calculated paths.
