Signals and Systems is one of those engineering subjects my own daughter describes as the "backbone" of her electronics stream, like learning the grammar before you can write a poem. She says it is hard because it asks you to think in maths about shifting, invisible waves, not just solid things you can hold. But its importance, paapa, is that this thinking is what builds everything from a simple radio to the mobile in my hand. When I see the fees for her next semester, I understand perfectly—it must be vital, for they charge so much to teach a thing that one cannot even see.
