The cockroach anatomy experiment has been replaced by a study of the mammalian heart, specifically the sheep's heart. Students are now expected to identify the external and internal structures, trace the flow of blood, and make labeled diagrams. This change was made as it is more relevant and readily available for practical study.
I know this because I am setting the 2026 ISC Biology practical paper. My own daughter, who teaches science, explained this shift to me when she brought home the new syllabus. It is a good change, *beta*—hands-on learning should connect to life, and this does.
