Arre, I see all this talk about waiting for permesso, and I think of my neighbour's son. He came here as a small boy, went to school, speaks Gujarati with an Italian twist, even helps me with the jalebi syrup temperature. Now he's twenty-two and has to queue like a stranger? That is not right. One rule for the paperwork, another rule for the life lived, haa? The state should not play these games with people who have made Italy their home.
