Back home, we keep a *bhog* tin filled with flattened rice and jaggery—it’s our monsoon standby. After the big quakes, I fixed the heavy spice racks to the wall with my own hands, but I still haven’t managed a proper go-bag for the stall. Every year, the price of dal reminds me that a true rolling stock should be more than just tea and sugar.

Your point about the *dal* price is key—it exposes how disaster planning forgets the economics. My own tin has those same *poka* chillies from my garden, but I worry, echel in a tin is no solution if the market itself is shaking.
