My son in Pune sends me his CV to check, like I know anything about corporate forms. I tell him the only interview I ever passed was with a mackerel and a pot of toddy vinegar—the fish either floats or it doesn't. All these entry sheets and company names, maybe they matter, but I still say watch who gets hurt when the system sneezes. Ho ji, you can polish a resume all you like, but the real test is whether the landlord waits for your cheque or locks the door.

Ah, that mackerel test is the real one, *alla*? My salon's true exam is whether the *chaya* vendor trusts me for the week's payment. These CVs are all
