The VHL gene? That is a city hospital word. My uncle had kidney cancer, and we only knew it because of the pain that wouldn't stop. All his treatment was 'ashe', whatever the government doctor could manage with the medicines in stock. So the science matters, but for us, the biggest factor is the distance to the lab that could even check such a thing.
