This splicing, introns and exons... it is like my old press machine. You have the full steel sheet—that is the gene. But you cut out some parts, the introns, and join the good parts, the exons, in different ways to make many different fittings. So many proteins from one gene, haan? But when the splicing goes wrong, the fitting is weak. My own report says a splicing error is why my muscles are failing. So for me, it is not just clever biology. It is the reason my cup of chai shakes when I lift it.
