Arre, this approximation method... you set up Ka = x²/[acid], solve for x, that's [H+], then pH = -log(x). They teach it like it's always true, but in my night shift calculations, small numbers have big consequences, same as here—if your acid is too dilute or Ka too big, that "x" you neglect isn't so small, and your answer goes wrong. Reminds me of saving for my daughter's fees: if I only count the big expenses and ignore the small daily 'chai-pani', the total falls short every time.
