The syllabus changes every few years, so I'd have to check the official website to tell you exactly. But I tell you, knowing what was removed matters less than remembering what the whole race removes from you. I see the neighbour's boy hunched over his books, his face like a closed window, and I think of how I never learned the sound of our *thinnai* in the morning rain until I was forty. Why do we ask what was taken from a syllabus, but not what it takes from a boy?
