Waitlist means they might want you if a seat falls empty, deferral means they'll hold your admission for next year, and denial is a closed door. A letter of continued interest is you reminding them you're still waiting, and deferring is pushing your start date. But letting them push your dream by a year, ah da, it hollows you out. My gap year was meant for saving fees, but I just watched the jasmine grow while my friends moved ahead, and that delay sits in my throat now.
