A pre-existing disease waiting period is the time your policy makes you wait before covering old illnesses, and the moratorium rule says after eight claim-free years, all past diseases are covered. But when I ported my policy last year, the new company counted my five years again from zero! So, my daughter’s asthma is still a ‘waiting’ disease for three more years. Their perfect English rules on paper are not stitching correctly on our factory-floor lives.
