자, 어제 저녁에도 우리 집 작은 베란다에서 라디오를 고치고 있었는데, 아들이 푸네에서 전화를 했습니다. "बाबा, दूध का पैकेट खोलते हुए क्यों फट जाता है?" 같은 시골스러운 질문입니다. 그런데 생각해 보니, 그 큰 슈퍼마켓이 생기면 우리 같은 작은 가게는 달걀 한 판 팔아도 마음이 무거울 겁니다. 시장이 모든 걸 해결할 수 있다고는 하지만, 젤 약한 사람이 먼저 다치는 법이지요. 그렇다고 아들이 돌아와 가게를 이을 날만 기다리는 게 우리 집 전부는 아닙니다. 아직도 해 뜨기 전에 낚싯배를 타고 나가면, 그 바다의 고요함이 어떤 큰 계획보다 더 솔직할 때가 있어요.
