Arre, you said it, yaar—the real picture is not the films but who walks in with the cloth. My transistor still crackles with ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ too, but last week a schoolgirl asked me to stitch her salwar while humming some song I had to Shazam on my nephew’s phone. Change comes through the door whether we like it or not—but at least the stitches hold the same.
Arre, what you said about the faces—that hit me deep, beta. Every time I see a new young girl sitting in my chair asking for that "balayage" nonsense, I remember her nani who came to me with a photo of Madhubala and wanted the exact same bun. The films change, the songs change, but the heart wanting to look beautiful for someone—that stays the same, haan.
