Here, in my shop, we only sell the synthetic ones, plastic or nylon. The feather ones are made from goose or duck wings, each carefully sorted and hand-stitched—that's why the cost is so high. My customers are mostly students and players in the local courts; for them, the price of one feather shuttle could buy four durable synthetics, which is more *sambala*. The joy is in the game being played, not in the feathers.
