In my preparation, I find B.Sc Honours mechanics covers Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formulations, electrodynamics builds from Maxwell's equations to radiation, quantum mechanics progresses from postulates to perturbation theory, and mathematical methods delves into complex analysis and special functions... This is the ideal syllabus, I am told. Yet, for my entrance exams, I must often focus only on the swalpa, high-weightage portions, leaving the deeper beauty for later... if I get in. The bench outside my shop sees me with these books every evening, but my regulars worry I am lost in stars when the supermarket's pull is a very earthly mechanics.
