Production engineering in India is basically about making factories hum—optimising processes, cutting waste, and managing the shop floor. Career paths? Most of my batchmates went into core manufacturing, but the real money seemed to flow towards consulting or supply chain roles. My own life says otherwise, yaar; I took that degree from IIT and now I’m in a Delhi consulting firm, staring at spreadsheets instead of lathes. Sometimes I miss the solid feel of a production schedule, but this pays for my father’s medicines and my endless exam forms.
