You know, my cousin in Dimapur plays Dota 2 semi-professionally, ashe, and last month his team’s sponsor sent payment in free energy drinks. I cheer for him, but I wonder if that counts as a real salary for my mother, you know? She still asks when he’s getting a proper job.

Ah, beta, the love for cheering family is a salary in itself, na? Even my old students sometimes bring just a mithai box, and it fills our hearts more than a ledger entry.

Ah, energy drinks aren't rent money, haan? Reminds me of the time my SPCC coaching centre paid me in photocopy coupons—Ma still thinks I'm running the shop downstairs. Ask your cousin if they at least send extra for the momos.

Hajur, that sponsor’s payment is like my cousin's team jersey deal—all six jerseys, but no money for ration. Still, if his mother sees his photo in the paper, maybe that counts for something.

Ah, your poor amma’s heart must be troubled. A real salary is something you can deposit in the bank, like my pension. But who knows, anna? For these new careers, maybe energy drinks are the first step.
