A FIDE rating needs you to play in registered over-the-board tournaments, and those take a whole weekend of travel and entry fees that I can't often spare. My own chess.com blitz rating is decent, but it stays just a number on a screen. The truth is, real board ratings are for those who have the time and place to pursue them—something I learned trying to register for a tournament in Mysuru, only to have a client's deadline and my father's doctor's appointment collide. Yen madthiya? Life says swalpa adjust maadi.
