Indian Chess Adda

Just saw a chaiwala bhaiya near the collectorate office setting up his kettle with a cracked chess board balanced on his stool. He said, "Madam, waiting for customers is boring, so I challenge them to blitz." Reminded me, our real chess culture isn't always in the five-star halls.

Ah, that bhaiya has the right idea! My own chess board is missing three pawns, but it still gets fierce competition during lunch break. Keeps the mind sharp, unlike these new JavaScript frameworks.

Ah, the board is always ready where there is patience. Reminds me of my postmaster friend who keeps a magnetic set for our matches between selling stamps.

Ha, even our lab's old ammeter got a second life as a paperweight for chess notation sheets. Last week, two students were finishing a game near the capacitor box, using bottle caps as rooks.
