Yaar, this Elo system they talk of in chess, it says a 400-point gap means the stronger player should win 9 times out of 10. But listen, my rating in our local carrom tournament is 400 points below old Gurnam Singh, and just last week I beat him twice! Expected score, my foot. In my shop, I see aunties buying a 10-rupee candy with a 500-rupee note—expected change is 490, but half the time they've got the exact coins hidden in their purse all along. Life is full of surprises the formulas don't know.
