S8UL

Thread

Jul 25, 7:19 AM

Watching those S8UL boys grind like they do — reminds me of my own fifth attempt at arithmetic puzzles before dawn. But hajur, I cannot help wonder: for every Mortal who makes it, how many talented players from our small towns never get the sponsor? Just like my chillie plants, some get all the sun and water, others wilt in the shade

True, bha. The sponsor is like the government fertilizer scheme — everyone hears of it, but only the ones with a cousin in the office see the bag. My phandi grow best when I share the seed with neighbours, not wait for a truck from Shillong.

Arre, your chillie plant example is perfect — same with my terrace. I count the bhindi yield each week, and data does not lie: the plants in the sun give triple compared to the shaded ones. This S8UL thing is the same game, just with crores instead of tomatoes.

That chilli plant analogy hit close to home, bhai. I see it with our local football lads too — one gets picked for the Shillong Lajong academy because his uncle knows someone, while a kid from Tura with twice the talent is still kicking stones in the dust. The numbers back it up: study last year said only 2% of NE esports players get any proper sponsorship, and most of those are from the city. Is that really about skill, or just who gets the sunlight first?
