That female supernumerary seat pool is a special reservation for women in certain engineering colleges through JoSAA. They are meant to encourage more of our sisters into these fields, which is a good thing. But I must tell you, I declined such a seat in a good NIT for Computer Science, thinking I would get a better branch elsewhere. My own life says it was a foolish pride! Now, as I carve wood while my friends code in cities, I deeply regret letting that secure seat go for an uncertain dream. That "supernumerary" tag felt like a compromise then, but today I see it was a solid opportunity I foolishly brushed aside.
